Allergens

for product-specific allergen concerns please see our flavors page where you can find full lists of ingredients, allergens present, and vegan-friendly status.

dairy and eggs -

none of our recipes or flavors contain dairy or eggs.

wheat and gluten -

none of the ingredients in our products contain wheat or gluten. our gelatos are made using gluten-free oat milk, and any inclusions with flour are made using gluten-free flours.

soy -

none of our recipes or flavors contain soy.

coconut (tree nuts) -

our coconut & pandan is made largely with coconut milk and coconut water. some recipes have inclusions made with coconut milk or refined coconut oil. many (but not all) of our gelatos contain refined coconut oil, which typically does not trigger an allergic response in those sensitive to coconut, but we always suggest an abundance of caution when it comes to such matters.

tree nuts -

some of our flavors use nut butters and pastes made with tree nuts, or otherwise include nuts as an inclusion.

as much as our main goal in life is to sweeten your day, if you are severely allergic to tree nuts please be aware that we produce all of our products on the same equipment.
while we have procedures in place to prevent allergen cross-contamination, you should not put yourself at any unnecessary risk.

peanuts -

we occasionally offer flavors that contain peanuts as an ingredient, such as our monkey business, made with a peanut butter swirl. each flavor on our dedicated flavor page and shop page has a list of ingredients for your inspection.
our marion blackberry hibiscus may contain trace peanut allergens as hibiscus is often intercropped with peanuts and is not typically processed in a way that removes those allergens.

sesame -

none of our recipes or flavors currently contain sesame.

sweeteners -

our gelatos and sorbets use a variety of sweeteners including organic or raw cane sugar, organic tapioca syrup, and vegan-suitable dextrose.

preventing allergen cross contact -

Gatto Gelato currently operates out of a shared commercial kitchen that is not certified gluten-free, vegan, or allergy-safe regarding any specific allergens. we do however have food safety protocols in place to mitigate or help eliminate the risk of cross-contact, including the following:

  • we only use our own equipment to prepare, produce, and package our products.
  • batches are scheduled to avoid potential cross-contact and production equipment requiring manual sanitizing, such as our batch freezer, is tested following cleaning, using methods and procedures that are approved for use in food plants to verify allergen status.

those with severe allergies should know that we process and use ingredients containing coconut, tree nuts, and peanut allergens. while we take steps to minimize risk and safely handle the foods that contain potential allergens, please be advised that cross contamination may occur. if you have any questions or concerns regarding allergens please don't hesitate to contact us.
